Basketball Shooting Machines, ranked

7 products. Prices checked Oct 15, 2026.

How we ranked these

Ranked by spec fit for the use case: a serious player training solo at home (driveway, garage or home gym) who wants the most automated, high-volume reps per dollar. Criteria, in priority order:

  1. Automation: machines that pass automatically to programmable spots rank above manual rebound-and-return trainers.
  2. Published rep rate (shots per hour) and number of programmable spots/distances.
  3. Home fit: weight, storage footprint and portability published by the maker.
  4. Price: lower price breaks ties between machines of similar automation; ongoing membership costs are noted.

We have not tested these products. Ranks reflect published specs and prices only. Full methodology.

The ranking

  1. #1: Dr. Dish Home3

    • Up to 1,200 shots per hour (maker claim)
    • 180° programmable passing across court locations
    • App-based training, make/miss shot counter
    • Maker states no membership required

Why #1: Highest published rep rate among home machines here, 180° programmable passing, and no required membership, which lowers long-term cost versus the original Home.

  2. #2: Dr. Dish Home

    Brand: Dr. Dish

    • 1,200 reps per hour (maker claim)
    • Fully programmable to court spots; 5 passing distances
    • App control via phone; mechanical shot counter
    • 40" L × 30" W × 78" H storage footprint
    • Player-app membership sold separately (month-to-month listed at $39)

Why #2: Same published rep rate as Home3 for $1,000 less upfront; ranks below Home3 because several features rely on a separately sold membership.

Price checked Oct 15, 2026 at Dr. Dish online store. Specs from the source page.
